Three times a year, zAmya hosts a series of creative workshops at the downtown Minneapolis Central Library which culminates in a “Shareformance” showcasing original work developed by workshop participants. As with everything zAmya does, these performances grow out of participants’ lived experiences and personal stories; there is healing power both in their creation, and in their presentation to the public.
This December, our Fall Shareformance will feature a piece written and directed by Senior Troupe Member Caroline Mannheimer; a scene inspired by the life of Troupe Member Tahiti Robinson, directed by Harry Water, Jr.; a scene about the Our Future Starts at Home constitutional amendment campaign, written by Esther Ouray in collaboration with participants; and a showing of the short film, My Body My Home, created in collaboration with choreographer Lelis Brito this past summer.
Shareformances are always free and open to everyone; no registration is needed. We hope you’ll join us:
