2004 Roadshow:
"Act Before Midnight!" or "A Random Selection of Everyday Americans"
Unique in its approach, Act before Midnight! is a comedic, vaudeville-style revue featuring stories, song and dance as well as vignettes, playing out variations on the themes of homelessness. Its premise begins as a random selection of people from two different populations, the homeless and the housed, are thrown into a theater audition and forced to sing, dance and express their opinions. A delusional host enjoys keeps the performers struggling through the entire process.
Written by award-winning playwright and community-based theater artist Josef Evans, directed by Minneapolis Bedlam Theatre co-founder, Maren Ward, and collaboratively created by non-professional actors from the homeless and housed populations, the goal of this production is to raise awareness of homelessness and the issues that surround it.
